The 2009 Pro-Life Corner Church Bulletin Inserts Introduction Compiled by Stephenson County Right to Life PO Box 697, Freeport, Il 61032 www.prolifecorner.com Telephone: 815-232-2538 Without life nothing else matters The “change” that many of us did not ask for. In light of the 2008 election and the appalling information that in some Christian communities half the people voted for the pro-abortion candidate, it is apparent that money means more to some people than voting for the pro-life candidate. We know there are many pastors who worked tirelessly to educate their parishioners as to the horror of abortion. God bless them; however, with half of the Christian community voting along with the rest of the neo-pagan world, much needs to be done. Now more than ever, we need God’s spirit to guide us to boldly go forth and proclaim the Gospel of life and speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves, the unborn. If saying no to God is a sin, and it is, then when God sends new life into the world no matter what the circumstance, and that gift is rejected by abortion, then we as a nation are saying no to God over 4000 times a day. His pain and anger must be beyond human understanding. The culture of death will be pulling out all stops to put forth their anti-life agenda; it is our duty to resist their radical ways through every legal means possible. The first challenge is to all pastors; if you have been lukewarm on the abortion issue in the past now is the time to boldly proclaim the gospel of life. If not you, who? If not now, when? It is our sincere desire that pastors will use these pro-life quotes to help educate those in their spiritual community about life issues. To help us promote the culture of life may our Lord send His Holy Spirit to all of us so that we will have the courage to proclaim the gospel of life. The purpose of the Pro-life Corner is to present to the church-going community a message pertaining to a pro-life thought. But more important than the message itself is the fact that all religious communities, Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish, will have the same message each weekend to show the world that in the name of God the Father, the Giver of all life, we are united in our efforts to stop the slaughter of the unborn through abortion and of the elderly through euthanasia. We pray that you will be willing to get involved in this worthwhile project and not only use the Pro-Life Corner in your church bulletin but will make copies of it and share with your fellow pastors of all denominations. But more important than the message itself is the fact that all religious communities, Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish, will have the same message each week to show the world that in the name of God the Father, the Giver of all life, we are united in our efforts to stop the slaughter of the unborn through abortion and of the elderly through euthanasia. January 4- What hypocrisy it is to rejoice over the first baby born in the New Year in our community and not to mourn over the death of the first baby aborted in the New Year, the first of the estimated 1.2 million babies who will die as a result of surgical abortion this year. January 11- Abortion has caused the killing of millions of unborn babies with methods considered too inhumane for animals! We hear of the concern for the whales, the spotted owls, and the elephants when our most endangered species may well be our own unborn babies who should be our most prized resource. January 18- We have entered a new Dark Age in which human life counts for little and we find ourselves killing off our unwanted babies and our old people. How long will it be before the crippled, the blind and the sick are euthanized? To be pro-life, we must protect all life from conception to natural death. Join pro-life while you still can. January 25- Science has determined that at conception, a new individual comes into being, possessing a unique genetic code that has already determined that individual’s sex, fingerprints, hair and eye color, facial features, etc. It truly is a human life; therefore we must end abortion. February 1- If it be necessary to go against the current of what is sometimes being thought and said on all sides, then let us never grow weary of repeating it: all human life must be absolutely protected; in fact, abortion and euthanasia are murder. February 8- “It behooves us then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins and pray for clemency and forgiveness.” Abraham Lincoln, 1863. Abortion and euthanasia have become our national sin. Like slavery abortion, too, must end. February 15- Many Christians today are afraid to stand up and be counted as being against abortion. If we truly believe abortion is murder, then we must act as though it is murder! Find out what you can do to help stop this horrible holocaust. Join the pro-life movement today. February 22- The irrational thinking regarding Dred Scott and Roe v Wade is nearly identical. In both cases, the Court stripped all rights from a class of human beings and reduced them to nothing more than the property of others. Compare the arguments the Court used to justify slavery and abortion. Clearly, unborn children are now regarded as “beings of an inferior order” that the Court considered Blacks to be over a century ago. March 1- Abortion liberates men, not women. Abortion allows men to escape responsibility for their own sexual misbehavior. A father whose baby is aborted is relieved of the requirement that he support his child. Women can be reduced to the status of a consumer item, which if broken by pregnancy can be fixed by abortion. March 8- What is the governing force behind the abortion industry? Is it compassion for the woman? The right to choose? NO! It’s MONEY! This is from a former abortionist who says abortion is the largest unregulated industry in the nation, and a very lucrative one at that. Abortion is a contract killing in every sense of the word. March 15- Abortion, fetal experimentation, infanticide and euthanasia are four walls of America’s coffin. Don’t delay! Join the pro-life movement today! March 22- Because God created us with free will we can make choices; the choice to do good as well as to do evil. His judgment of us will be based upon the choices we make. We will be held accountable for what we do and for what we fail to do. CHOOSE LIFE! March 29- Another real casualty of abortion, besides the babies who are killed and the mothers who suffer from post-abortion syndrome, is our own humanity. Every society is judged by the way it treats its defenseless and dependent. If we continue on this path toward inhumanity, our society and our civilization will certainly perish. April 5- Help put God back into our lives. Promote His Commandments; bring back respect for all life from the womb to the tomb; strengthen family structure that is the basic unit of our society and bring Judeo-Christian morals back into the way we live. April 12- Abortion and euthanasia are not issues on which we can remain neutral; we must take sides. If we are not actively against abortion, then by our silence we are condoning it. Join a pro-life group today. April 19- Abortion is not as safe as the pro-abortion forces would like for you to believe. There are well documented studies which indicate that many abortions can cause infections, hemorrhage, cervical tear, perforation of the uterus and other organs, sterility, premature delivery and sometimes death. And these are just some of the risks to the mother; the baby is always killed. April 26- A problem with the slogan “I don’t want to impose my morality on others” is that it is inconsistent with the way we view other issues. We impose our morality on others when we say they cannot steal our car, burn our house, or kidnap our child. Certainly we don’t allow others the right to make those choices. Why do we allow a different standard for abortion? May 3- Question: When can a woman, in the pursuit of a career, education, life style, or personal interest have the legal right to kill a defenseless human being? Answer: When she has an abortion which can be done even up to the day the baby is to be born. May 10- Motherhood: Pregnancy is not a disease like some in the ‘culture of death’ would have you believe. It is a power, a glory, and a privilege beyond measure. More importantly, it is a gift from God. Do not abort God’s gift. Pray that all pregnant women will bring God’s gift within them to full term. May 17- Think about this: Those who favor euthanasia speak of the “right to die”. No one needs a right to die; it’s a fact of life. What they really want is the right to kill. May 24- Every 20 seconds another child becomes a victim of the war against the unborn. There are no graves we can visit, no public memorials, only dumpsters and incinerators where the mangled bodies of the war casualties are quietly discarded in back alleys. As people of God, we must end abortion. May 31-No right is more fundamental than the right to life itself, and no innocent human life already begun can be deliberately terminated without offense to God, the Author of all life. We must end abortion now; our future defends on it. June 7- Should we tell our children about abortion? Yes! The pro-life message will not harm our children. What will harm them, however, is the “pro-abortion” message, which will train them to think that human life is a disposable item and which, if unchallenged, may lead them to an abortion mill someday June 14- News broadcasters refuse to show the people of America what an abortion looks like because it is so violent. When something is so horrifying that we can’t stand to look at it, why are we tolerating it? With God’s help we must end abortion. June 21- It’s a fact: The father of an unborn child can not protect his baby from abortion. If the mother decides to abort, the way things stand now the father and baby have no rights. He is not allowed to be a part of the decision making process if his view is different from the mothers. June 28- Pregnancy takes nine months. Abortion takes a life and gives a life-time of regrets. Choose life! July 5- Our society is phony in its attitude toward handicapped children. We sponsor the Special Olympics, and cheer on the Down’s Syndrome competitors, speaking of the joy and inspiration they bring us; but when we hear a woman is carrying a special needs baby society says “Kill it before it is born.” Oh God, help us to change and choose life. July 12- Parenthood is a lasting career. You can take this soul with you into eternity. You are now beginning an eternal mission. All the possessions you procure on earth will one day have to be left behind. Most of the things you think are so important will one day be burnt up under the fire of God’s judgment, but your baby has an eternal soul which will live forever. July 19- What liberation is there in the destruction of one’s own baby? What victory for women’s rights has been wrought doing such violence in the womb? What kind of ‘choice’ is it when a woman’s life-giving, procreative power is betrayed for the cost of an abortion? Pray for all who have had abortions. July 26- What do you think an artist would feel if he were working on a masterpiece and someone came up and destroyed his artwork? Deliberate destruction of an art object expresses the lack of respect for both the artist and his art. The same attitude is expressed towards God when man indiscriminately destroys human babies that God is forming in the womb. For the love of God, we must end abortion. August 2- Today the spirit of violence in our society is so great that our children are killing one another. What else should we expect in a nation where mothers have been granted the bogus ‘right’ to kill their offspring at will? As long as our courts sanction murder in the womb, we will be faced with the consequences of violence in our streets, schools, workplace, and homes. August 9- Many of the people who are opposed to abortion have been led to believe they should not impose their morality on others. Think about this: Legal abortion imposed someone’s immorality upon the unborn babies. August 16- Every baby saved from an abortion is a warm, breathing, human being loved by God, with its own individual destiny and name. We must stop offending God; we must end abortion. Join a pro-life group today. August 23-With the pro-abortion forces so deeply entrenched it is sometimes easy to feel like David confronting Goliath. But like David, we must expose ourselves to the dangers prayerfully and trust in God so that He can bring about a victory. Join pro-life today. August 30-When two men are fighting in a forest, and they are attacked by a wild beast, they quickly become a unified force against a common danger. So it should be today with Jews, Protestants, and Catholics; there is a common enemy, the ‘culture of death’. Now, more than ever, let there be a common front against a common affront. September 6- A community would mourn for months if a school bus packed with 48 children crashed and burned, killing everyone inside. However, on average in America 166 lives are lost to abortion every hour. This is equal to having a school bus full of children crash every 20 minutes. Why are we not mourning this horrific loss of human life? September 13- In the United States, surgical abortion stops a beating heart over 4000 times a day. In 30 days that would be equivalent to a city of 120,000, or twice the amount of Americans killed in the Vietnam War. September 20- Have you ever dreamed of saving someone’s life? Well, you can! It’s a fact that some women have decided against aborting their babies because of the effect of a pro-life billboard, bumper sticker, or the presence of a prayerful demonstrator at an abortion clinic. Do something today and help save a life-join pro-life today. September 27-The battle for life is not between pro-lifers and pro-abortion supporters, traditionalists and feminists, but rather between justice and injustice. Either life is for everyone or the right to life will be doled out at the whims of the powerful. Pray that this does not come to pass. October 4- To a young girl with child, pregnancy may seem like the end of the world. It is our job to show her that it is the beginning of new life and that life should be protected, no matter what the circumstances of the conception. October 11- If a pregnant woman is murdered, society wants to bring the perpetrator up on double-homicide charges. However, if that same woman were to abort her baby she would be invoking her alleged “freedom of choice.” It’s as if it’s not really a baby unless she wants it to be. And that, of course, is appalling. October 18- We, in the pro-life movement, have been fighting on the side of the unborn since 1973. Often we get discouraged and feel we’re failing. We must persevere through prayer, and never, never give up! October 25- The New Moralist: He slaughters babies painfully, then speaks of death with dignity. There is no dignity in an abortion or euthanasia. November 1- It is easier to scrape the baby out of the mother’s womb than to scrape the memory of the baby out of her mind. Abortion destroys two lives, the life of the baby and the conscience of the mother. We must help all who have had an abortion realize that God’s forgiveness is infinite so they can be at peace and be healed. November 8- The reason we have abortion on demand in this land is simple: Our self-centered, materialistic society has a wrong attitude towards children. It should be that our children are our most precious natural resource; they are our future. November 15- Abortion and euthanasia are commonplace because too many have done too little for too long. Nothing complicated, we’ve simply allowed the evil influences to inundate us and we do nothing. We allow our pro-abortion officials to remain in office and, in fact, may have voted for them, voting for our pocketbook instead of voting for life. May we all receive courage from God to change our hearts and work to end abortion. November 22- Pro-lifers offer thousands of care centers for pregnant women. All that pro-abortion forces offer a pregnant woman is a wounded soul and a dead baby. You can make a difference-join pro-life today. November 29- Lenin once said, “The U.S. will rot from within, so there is no need to destroy it from without.” Since 1973, the U.S. has aborted (killed) over 50 million babies. We are indeed rotting from within when we, as a nation, continue to promote this slaughter of the unborn. December 6- Life is like a snowflake. Just as every snowflake is different, every person is different and irreplaceable! We, as Americans, allow 1,200,000 irreplaceable babies to be destroyed through surgical abortion every year. Like the melting snow of springtime, our future generations are also disappearing. December 13- Our natural resources are of great importance to us. We protect our forests, lakes, and endangered species of all kinds. Yet we allow over 4000 of our children to be killed every day by surgical abortion in our country. The greatest natural resource any country can have is it’s children. They must be protected, not aborted. December 20- In the 1800’s, black people were considered “non-persons”. During World War II, Jews were considered by the Nazi’s to be “inferior beings.” Both of these injustices were totally wrong, just as today it is wrong to consider the unborn baby as a non-being. We must stop abortion-our future as a nation depends on it. December 27- As people faithful to God, many of us see abortion as a religious issue. It is, however, primarily a civil rights issue. Our constitution guarantees the “right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” It does not exclude the unborn.
