City Attorney and Abortion Facility Try and Redefine Reality
At the city of Rockford Codes and Regulations committee meeting on Monday a deception was uncovered that has a tremendous bearing on a possible bubble zone and the city attorney’s office ability to enforce it.
At the city of Rockford Codes and Regulations committee meeting on Monday a deception was uncovered that has a tremendous bearing on a possible bubble zone and the city attorney’s office ability to enforce it.
City attorney Jennifer Caciapaglia presented the councilman with a map of the 100 foot purposed bubble zone with the center of the bubble zone being the abortion clinic entrance. Any where within this bubble zone pro-lifers could not approach within 8 feet of a mother to offer help. The map was based on misinformation.
The city attorneys office marked as the abortion clinic entrance an old garage that is near the driveway where sidewalk counselors offer help to mothers. The actual entrance, the entrance that has been used for the past 25 years, is about 50 feet farther back in the parking lot.
As was shown on the map the 100 foot radius that would include the bubble zone in it barely made it into the street using the false map. If a real map was used showing the actual entrance the 100 foot zone would all be on clinic property. So in reality the 100 foot bubble zone is all on clinic property that pro-lifers do not set foot on anyway.
This is either extremely shoddy work on the part of the city of Rockford or a direct attempt to deceive. Either way this is an outrageous error when the lives of children in the womb hang in the balance.
Below is a picture of the clinic entrance that has been used for over two decades. You can see the professionally printed sign permanently attached to the brick wall that identifies the real entrance to killing center.
Below is also a picture of the new paper sign that just went up this week identifying a door closer to the sidewalk as the clinic entrance. No person used this exit today. Every mother entering the clinic used the same entrance that has been used for 25 years.
These kinds of lies and deceptions will not stand.
EDITOR’S NOTE:
This is a civil rights issue.
The above arguments are good starting points and talking points, but the real issue here is that this is another of the many civil rights issues that need to be addressed. A bubble death zone will extend the killing field out into the public sidewalk and street. We know that’s a strong statement; allow us to clarify. The pro-life advocates in Rockford have many documented cases of lives being saved because they were there on the PUBLIC sidewalk exercising their right to free speech and freedom of assembly. To implement this law will be a direct attack against not only the pro-life advocates but a violation of the rights of the woman in a crisis pregnancy. On many occasions, because a pro-lifer was allowed to approach the mother or because the mother, father, or grandparent had turned to a sidewalk counselor to seek advice, they were truly able to exercise “choice”. On many occasions they chose life instead of abortion.
The attempt to implement a bubble of death zone is clearly a suppression of the rights of free speech of people on both sides of the issue.
If you think about it an implementation of this law is tantamount to illegal seizure of public property (sidewalk and street) in order to extend the influence of that filthy business into the public arena. If public property is going to be seized under this so-called “bubble law” it will make many citizens in Rockford, because of the use of public land, unwilling participants in the immoral act of killing the unborn.
Very often we get the argument that opposition to abortion on demand is a religious issue and to many of us that is part of the argument but we have said from day one that abortion is a civil rights issue; all have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The Constitution never excluded the unborn. If you go back to your basic government class you remember you have three branches of government; legislative, judicial, and executive. We’ll just speak of the judicial at this time; they are to rule on existing law, not create law. That duty belongs to the legislative branch. In 1973 the judicial branch CREATED a law, through Roe v Wade and Doe v Bolton, that said a woman had a “right” to murder her baby at any time from conception until the moment of birth, i.e partial birth abortion; for the judiciary to CREATE law is not in their job description and in the eyes of many it was an illegal and immoral act on their part.
Time does not allow us to put forth our full position on this argument. Please check back to this website often for updates pertaining to life issues, not only in Rockford but all across this once great country of ours.
