House Bill 6205 was amended
Unfortunately but not unexpectedly, House Bill 6205 was today passed by the House Human Services Committee. This means the bill is on the House floor and could come up for a vote as early as next week. We need to make sure our voice continues to be heard in Springfield!
House Bill 6205 was amended in committee but serious problems remain. Most notably, the bill requires taxpayer funding of abortion, emergency contraception, and other fertility and sterilizations treatments. The bill also mandates school districts implement comprehensive sex education programs and provides broad immunity protections for those performing abortions.
Please be sure to contact your state representative and tell them you are "still opposed to House Bill 6205 as amended because the bill requires taxpayer funding of abortion!" An updated fact sheet is attached.

VOTE NO! ON HOUSE BILL 6205
The so-called Reproductive Health and Access Act
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HB 6205 represents a RADICAL departure from current Illinois law regarding abortion, taxpayer funding of abortion, taxpayer funding of other reproductive medical treatments and “comprehensive” sex education.
NO STATE OR LOCAL “INTERFERENCE”!
This legislation seeks to create a “fundamental right” to abortion and deny the state or any political subdivision the right to any common sense regulation of access to abortion. However, in the 1992 Planned Parenthood v. Casey decision, the U. S. Supreme Court affirmed a state’s right to regulate access to abortion.
PUBLIC FUNDING OF ABORTION & EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION!
Section 20 requires taxpayer funding of abortions, emergency contraception without pregnancy or ovulation testing, in-vitro fertilization and other fertility or sterilization treatments. State employee health insurance plans, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program and the All Kids Health Insurance Program would all be required to spend taxpayer dollars on this coverage.
BROAD IMMUNITY PROTECTIONS!
Section 25 affords medical professionals performing abortions unprecedented liability protections. Why should a medical professional “not be liable for civil damages or subject to criminal penalty relating to a pregnancy termination” if the law otherwise calls for it?
REQUIRED “COMPREHENSIVE” SEX EDUCATION!
Section 30 mandates public school districts to offer comprehensive sex education. Local control would be undermined by this new mandate. In addition, Section 90 amends the Comprehensive Health Education Program to delete references to abstinence “until marriage.”
REQUIRED TO BE BROADLY INTERPRETED!
Our reading is not too broad: Section 35 requires the law and subsequent rules to be “liberally construed.”
A vote for the Reproductive Health and Access Act is a vote
FOR public funding of abortion!

Fri, 03/12/2010 - 2:48am — Anonymous (not verified)Our "leaders" and politicians can only destroy our society and/or our children IF we ALLOW them to! YES, folks, it IS a CHOICE! A conscious, free will choice and decision! It's a choice because it's the one thing out of all the choices available :out there" to choose from. It's a decision, because like the statement above, of all the decisions "out there" and available, shoving this politically correct poison down the throats of We The People seems to be the one we're ALLOWING our leaders to make! WHY? WHY ? WHY? WHY? WHY? W H Y? WHY? WHY? WHY? W H Y? WHY? WHY? WHY? It's bad enough our leaders are willing to bankrupt those of us that work and contribute to society and we're being bankrupted to fund various entitlement programs and special interests that we'll NEVER be able to access let alone use despite VERIFIABLE PROOF OF NEED, now we're very potentially being forced to subsidize the on demand no questions asked killing of the least amongst us?!? WHEN AND WHERE WILL WE AS INDIVIDUALS AND AS A NATION CHOOSE TO PUT A STOP TO THIS INSANITY - WHEN WE'RE BANKRUPT, HOMELESS AND WITH OUR BACKS AGAINST THE WALL?!? AMERICA AND ROCKFORD, WAKE THE HELL UP AND TAKE YOUR COMMUNITY AND NATION BACK!!!!
